CTE = CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION
FACS = FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE
CTE is a state required semester course for 7th and 8th graders. at Centennial 7th graders take CTE/FACS and CTE/Technology 8th graders take CTE/Business. CTE is designed to help students prepare for career choices by exploring skills and introducing Career Fields. The FACS section has Introductory units in Career Exploration, Foods and Nutrition, Agriculture, Child Development, Independence, and Sewing and Textiles.
(If you are cleaning out or throwing out: Please donate extra fabric, stuffing, thread, yarn, buttons, elastic, beads, batting to CMS Sewing)

CTE/FACS
Essential Learnings:
1. Students will demonstrate ability to safely thread and run a sewing machine by completing an individual project.
2. Students will identify careers relating to clothing and textiles, foods and nutrition, families, and child development.
3. Students will participate in cooking labs, demonstrating basic skills in safe food handling and food preparation.
4. Student will plan and run a preschool.
5. Students will learn techniques necessary for success in babysitting and childcare.
6. Students will explore personal strengths and weakness to identify interests and abilities.
7. Students will learn about career pathways.
